Kahr-F1Kahr Arms officially broke ground on their new headquarters in Blooming Grove Township, in Pike County, Pa., on Thursday, May 29.

A crowd of more than 180 attended the company’s official groundbreaking ceremony, including Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley and other key state officials.

The ceremony marks the first step in Kahr Arms’ multi-phased relocation from New York to Pennsylvania. The corporate offices and research and development departments will be the first to relocate upon completion of the new facility, with manufacturing operations expanding to the new location at a later date to meet the increasing demands for Kahr Firearms Group products.

Early last year, Kahr Arms decided to move from New York to the more gun-friendly state of Pennsylvania. According to a Kahr Arms press release, the company feels the move to Pennsylvania will result in a more cohesive relationship between the firearms manufacturer and the state than what they have experienced in New York.

Kahr is one of a number of firearms manufacturers who have announced plans to move operations across state lines. In May, Remington Outdoor Company announced to Guns & Ammo that several facilities were being consolidated to Remington’s new facility in Huntsville, Ala.

Located in the Pocono region of the state, Kahr’s new location sits on 620 acres of commercial property purchased from the Pike County Industrial Park Development Group.

More information will be provided as it is released.
